Facial moisturizers are your key to softer, smoother, healthier looking skin. Yet many women fail to use them. They are worried they will make their skin oily. Some even have the misconception that moisturizers will clog their pores. A good product will never leave an oily feel or any residue on your skin.

Good facial moisturizers will melt into your skin, leaving it soft and creamy looking. They will be absorbed in a matter of a few seconds.

Your complexion should look healthy and refreshed, but never oily.

If your facial cream just sits on top of your skin in an oily pool, it probably contains cheap filler ingredients. Many times, manufacturers will use animal fats and mineral oils in their moisturizers because they can make a larger profit with less expensive additives. Some even go so far as to include pork or beef fat in their products. If you have ever used a moisturizer that left your face looking like an oil slick, it probably contained these ingredients.

Always read your label for a list of ingredients. If you see animal fats, chemicals, or waxes it should set off alarm bells.

Good quality facial moisturizers should contain nourishing nutrients and antioxidants easily absorbed by the skin. There should be no waxes or fillers in the list of ingredients. To be effective they need to nourish, restore, and revitalize the skin. They should not add oil.

Facial cream would not be needed in a perfect world. Women ideally should get all the vitamins and nutrients needed for healthy skin from their diet. Unfortunately, most busy women today do not have that diet. Busy schedules and dieting can wreak havoc on your complexion. Some busy moms take a water bottle everywhere they go and seem to think this will solve their dry skin problems. Water is terrific, but water alone will not hydrate your skin.

A good quality facial cream, manufactured with the correct ingredients, should form an effective barrier between your skin and the nasty things you can't see. Things that are in the air, and can irritate and age your skin. This includes pollens, dirt, exhaust, and hundreds of other air pollutants.

Now you can see why facial moisturizers are not just for dry skin. They are actually a form of skin protection. They should be used by everyone.

They effectively pick up the slack where your diet fails, and provide your skin the nutrition it needs to keep a healthy glow. They moisturize your skin as well as help protect it from the dirt, dust, and pollution you encounter everyday. Good quality products will never clog your pores. They will actually help protect your complexion from things that irritate your skin. Which brings us back to the question...Why aren't you using facial moisturizers?
