There are many key elements to running a successful online gift hamper business just as any other business but one important factor is getting your images looking not just good but fantastic.
The market is highly competitive and you will want your images to have the wow factor ten times more than your competition which means they have to be visually appealing.
Of course it helps to be creative, and you probably are, as I'm guessing this is what attracted you to this business in the first place right?
It's important that a theme runs through the collection of gifts you are putting into your gift hamper. For example, if it's a Cheese and Wine Hamper you are selling, obviously you'll need the wine! And obviously you'll need the cheese! But don't forget the other items you will need to include which will complement each other, are you including the biscuits and crackers and chutneys to go with the cheese?
You'll need to imagine your recipient excitedly opening the hamper and sitting down to enjoy the basket of goodies. Is everything included for them to actually sit and enjoy their hamper right there and then? A mini wooden cheese board could be included together with a cheese knife and maybe a bottle opener for the wine.
So, you have a great collection of co-ordinated items ready to photograph alongside your wicker basket. If possible, and it's highly recommended, your items should not only be themed but also be colour coordinated. This may seem a bit fussy but it makes a huge difference in turning the overall image into a 'product' making it look far more professional, creating a bigger impact.
It's also very worthwhile making the effort to arrange your products in such a way as the overall effect is more of a lifestyle image. For example, remove the cheese from the wrapper and have a couple of slices laid out in front of the wicker basket with perhaps a cheese knife to one side. Pour some wine into a quality wine glass to include in the photo and lay some biscuits out too. And some grapes or some other food item in keeping with the theme of the hamper. The overall effect here is to make the image more enticing so that your customer's will want to hurry to the checkout knowing that they have selected a perfect gift for their recipient!
Good luck and happy hampers!
