Spending Quality Time with Your Child

There is no other time in life that we can enjoy our kids more than when they were still children. Most parents that have college-age kids would agree that they are almost wistful when they reminisce the time when their children were not that old to go to school yet and have to be at home with Mommy most of the time.

Parents should enjoy their children then while they are still in this stage. With all the time being spent at work, there should also be just enough quality time for a parent to do something with the child. Quality time may be getting to be a cliche already these days, but a parent should be able to see later on in life that quality time with one's child really pays off. Why? Because you are able to support the child, make him or her more confident and certain in what he is doing, knowing that you are able to give out your full support, thus making him be positive and responsible in his disposition later on as an adult.

In addition, what could be the best way to bond with one's child but play? Playing is what most children are interested in. With the aid of toys, a parent could not possibly run out of ideas on what activities to do with the child! There are almost endless possibilities from which the child can also learn and not only enjoy.

Say, for example, you have a three-year-old. Most children at this stage develop hand coordination. This is actually the time when they have to master their motor skills like putting together big beads or putting a puzzle together. Puzzles, like what Melissa & Doug have, as well as make-believe crocheting and scribbling would certainly take your child's interest and enjoyment. Creativity toys like origami and kirigami play sets should develop a child's creativity and imagination as well.

Playing make believe is a favorite of children at this stage too. Try dressing up like Cinderella with your child while playing kitchen! Or maybe as a pirate of the Caribbean with your boy, or how about Superman or Spiderman while playing with his toy garages? The ideas are almost endless.

If you have a creative side, you can also try to do some artwork with the child. Do not give him limits; let him try out a different experience each time you do things together. Do you know (well, perhaps not everybody) that the great director Steven Spielberg has a lot to thank his mom for? Of course, his mom allowed him to use her kitchen when he was a child making his first film. Needless to say, the kitchen got messy will all the goop, but it certainly did not stop him from being one of the world's greatest directors.

So are you still tired and feeling lazy about having time with your child? Think again. You just might have the next Degas or Spielberg as your child.
