A new Guillomax Paper Cutter was released this past year by Tamerica Products International that can slash through as many as 360 pieces of paper with ease. This is almost as powerful as a ream cutter, but it sells at half the price of most ream cutters. There are many pros to the new Guillomax cutter, but there are also a few cons.
Pros:
* Blade – The Guillomax has an extremely sharp blade of hardened steel that is designed to easily handle most strenuous paper cutting needs. Its blade can be easily removed for professional sharpening, and replacement blades are easy to get.
* Construction – The construction of the Guillomax can’t be beat. The body of the cutter is heavy duty powder coated steel, and it includes an ultra sharp blade, heavy duty metal handle and all the necessary tools for changing the blade.
* Leverage – The Guillomax has an extra long handle, so cutting 360 pieces of paper seems like cutting through a single sheet. Product tests have shown that the Guillomax also cuts through poly, clear cover and cover stock like a breeze.
* Pressure Bar – A lot of ream cutters don’t have the ability to properly hold the material in place that is being cut. The Guillomax, on the other hand, has a heavy duty pressure bar operated by a separate handle on the unit that holds the materials in place when cutting while remaining easy to engage and release.
* Safety – For safety’s sake, the Guillomax also includes a shield to keep users’ hands from being caught under the blade. It also includes a locking mechanism that allows two-handed cutting operation.
* Stand – The Guillomax Cutter can even be used on a tabletop or with an optional stand that makes cutting even easier. The optional purchase of a short stand for the Guillomax paper cutter provides the user with ample leverage to cut through the most treacherous paper products.
Cons:
* The one drawback to the Guillomax Paper Cutter is that it can start to pivot after several months of use, making it harder to square the cutter. A framing square can help to keep the cutter in line so that the papers are cut at a 90 degree angle to the blade. A lot of the more expensive stack and ream cutters have back gauges that are fixed at a 90 degree angle to the cutting blade already, but for half the price it’s worth it to simply use the framing square.
The Guillomax paper cutter has some amazing features, and its price makes it even more appealing. The Guillomax is ideal for schools, churches, businesses and small print shops. It may take a little bit of work to make sure that the cuts are square and perfect, but it is by far the best cutter in its price class.
