Diesel fuel is generally much kinder to the environment than regular gasoline, and is also much kinder to drivers wallets, with its increased fuel efficiency of over standard products. Manufacturers of premium vehicles in Hong Kong and even electric and hybrid cars in Hong Kong are now turning to diesel as one of the fuels of the immediate future.

Engines are relatively similar to regular gasoline, and the technology is quite tried and tested, and now very reliable. There is a new Mercedes auto available in diesel model, as well as several other competitors that now have diesel models available.

We look at some of the new generation of diesel luxury sports cars in Hong Kong and other premium Hong Kong vehicles, helping erase the dirty diesel image of the past.

Mercedes announced that in late 2008 and early 2009, a new diesel generation engine will be released in its C-class, E-class and the new GLK-series premium Hong Kong vehicles. The first model to get the BlueEfficiency Prime engine will be the C250CDI. This luxury car available in Hong Kong offers not only lower emissions, but also higher fuel efficiency.

It has an output of 150kW or 204hp, going from 0 to 100km/h or 0 to 60mph in only seven seconds, With a top speed of 250 km/h, it is difficult to believe that this Mercedes Benz car needs just 5.2 liters of juice per 100km.

There have been some very thorough measures for improving fuel efficiency incorporated into the Mercedes Benz car engine. A maximum ignition pressure of 200 bar helps keep your fuel bills and environmental impact down at the beginning of your journey, while throughout the middle the ground breaking piezo-injector concept, variable oil-spray nozzles and water pump, and dual-stage supercharging all keep the liters per hundred down significantly.

BMW is catching up to the diesel technology leader, Mercedes, also. Their new 520d model is a luxury diesel car, with an all-alloy engine that puts out 125kW. Fuel consumption is not as good as the Mercedes auto, at 6.1 liters per 100km, and the engine is slower also, at 8.6 seconds to go from 0 to 100 or 0 to 60, depending on your preferred unit of measurement.

The BMW does have some impressive technological and add-on features for a premium vehicle in Hong Kong though, with a control display with color monitor and radio navigation, as well as Bluetooth capabilities, dual climate control and a multi-function steering wheel.

Also with a niche market in its own right is the new diesel car from Alfa - their JTD 1.9 Turbo Diesel not only has a more efficient diesel engine, but also the new six-speed Q-tronic electronic automatic gearbox. You have never had so many choices for how to change gears in your car s in this new generation Alfa, one of Hong Kong's premium vehicles.

Along with distinctive Italian styling, the Alfa diesel gives excellent fuel economy and a driving experience that allows you to really connect with your machinery.
Author Resource:- As one of the world's most exciting and prestigious brand, Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong offers luxury passenger cars and commercial vehicles extensive choice of Vito, Sprinter, Viano, Actros, Axor and Atego to the customers in Hong Kong and Macau.
