The idea of having an electric powered car was a ridiculous thing in the past. But with the fuel crisis today and the decline in the economy many people are turning to this kind of technology to be able to save money in buying gasoline. We must now accept that the world is battling the oil prices and that the economy is performing poorly. With this reason there are many people that are investing on these hybrid cars.

This vehicle works like any conventional car but it has two engines that are going to be responsible in running the car. The electronic engine is the one powering the electricity that is stored in its batteries. The other engine is the gasoline powered which is used by the traditional car engine.

The electric engine is being used by the car it will not use the gasoline, which means that you are able to save your money on gasoline. During its first release the hybrid cars were not appealing to many people. To charge the battery you must plug it into the household socket. At that time it was inconvenient at the same time inefficient because it incurred a huge electricity bill.

The fact that with the new technology and more advanced in battery cells, the hybrid car is no longer needed to be plugged in for it to recharge the batteries. Instead, when these cars are running through its gasoline engine, the mechanical energy is then automatically converted to electrical energy which is now used to charge the batteries inside the car which powers the electric engine.

Thanks to onboard computers, it will automatically change from gasoline power to its electric power and vice versa depending on the situation. An example is that the car is running idle its onboard computer will be able to detect and automatically switch to its electric power. This means that if the car is running idle, you will be saving gasoline as the car will not be using gasoline to keep the car running.

You can also manually switch the car from gasoline to electric power and vice versa. For example, if you are just driving within a city and that you don't need to go very far, you can manually switch the electric engine on and the gasoline engine off. This way, you don't have to waste gasoline just to do some personal errands.

So, the next time you are looking to buy a car, you might consider hybrid cars. With this, you will not just save a lot of money, but you will also be doing the environment a favor. This is because you will consume less gasoline and emit less toxic fumes.
